Voice command language

The language of the voice commands is set by default when the Huawei smartphone is activated. If you want to change this afterwards, the device does not have to be reset.

Android 10 (EMUI 10.0)
Step 1:  Open the  settings
Step 2:  Tap on  Accessibility features
Step 3:  Tap on  Voice control
Step 4:  Tap on  Voice command language
Step 5:  Choose a  language
Step 6:  Confirm with  Change

Select to speak

If you activate the "Read aloud" function on the Huawei smartphone, you can have the screen contents read aloud by tapping on an element. If you tap on the symbol in the navigation bar, you will have the following control options:

  • Tap a specific item, such as text or an image.
  • Drag your finger across the screen to select multiple items.
  • Tap the Play button to hear the text.

Note: If we activate "Read aloud", an additional symbol appears in the navigation bar at the bottom right. The playback functions can be accessed via this.

Step 5:  Activate or deactivate  Select to Speak
Step 6:  Tap on  OK

Read in background

If you activate reading in the background of your Huawei smartphone, reading will continue even when the app is changed. This is an experimental function and may contains errors.

Step 5:  Tap on  More settings
Step 6:  Activate or deactivate  Read in the background

Read text to images

If this feature is enabled on the Huawei smartphone, we can have text in photos or in the camera viewfinder read aloud to us. We are advised that this is an experimental feature and may not work properly, in which case the Android Accessibility Suite requires permission to capture everything that is displayed on the screen.
