TalkBack on/off

If you activate TalkBack on the Huawei smartphone, you will get a voice feedback and can use the smartphone without having to look at the screen. This function is particularly useful for people with reduced eyesight or even blindness.

If you activate TalkBack, the operation of the smartphone changes as follows:

  • Swipe left or right to switch between items.
  • Double-tap an item to select it.
  • Drag with two fingers to scroll.

TalkBack speech rate

The speech output from TalkBack on the Huawei smartphone can be adjusted by the settings and the user rights. So you can change the language, reduce speech speed or change the pitch.

Note: These instructions change the speaking speed. Further options are possible in the same menu item.

Step 7:  Pull the speech rate to the  left  or  right

Speak passwords

You can decide for yourself whether or not passwords should be spoken on the Huawei smartphone using the TalkBack function. This function is suitable for checking, but it also has the disadvantage that listeners may get our data.

TalkBack-feedback

The TalkBack function of the Huawei smartphone provides you with haptic and acoustic feedback as standard after each entry. The vibration feedback and sound feedback can be deactivated on request. You can also adjust the volume of the tones and turn audio ducking on / off to make other audio sources quieter during voice input.

Note: In this guide we only deactivate the vibration feedback. Other options can be accessed in the same way.

TalkBack Navigation

In addition to the changed navigation, after activating the TalkBack function, you will find additional settings on your Huawei smartphone to make TalkBack even more user-friendly. The following options are available:

  • Selection by tapping once
  • Show context menu as list
  • Touch gestures
  • selection
  • shortcuts
  • Custom labels

Note: In this guide, we only deactivate the selection by tapping once. Other options can be accessed in the same way.
