Access point names (APN)
To activate mobile datas on your Huawei device, you first need the correct APN from your mobile carrier. This setup is usually made automatically. If you want to reset your APN configuration or reset it, because your device does not connect to the internet, you will find help in the mobile settings.






- Open the settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Mobile data
- Tap on Access Point Names (APNs)
- Open the menu
- Choose Between New APN or Reset to default
Preferred network type (2G/3G/LTE)
On your Huawei device, you can choose your preferred network type for each SIM card. If you have a really bad connection, for example if you use 4G/LTE, you can change your network type to 3G.





- Open the settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Mobile data
- Tap on Preferred network type
- Choose between one of the given options
Choose network manually
By default, your Huawei device always searches for the network domestic to your country. If you are near a border or live in a rural area, your device might chooses foreign nets to provide a a better reception. To choose a network manually, you need to deactivate the network search which is activated by default.






- Open the settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Mobile data
- Tap on Carrier
- Activate or deactivate Automatic
- Confirm with OK and choose a Network after
Stay connected when device sleeps
If this function is active on your Huawei smartphone, the data connection via Wi-Fi or mobile data remains on in the background when the screen is switched off.

- Tap on More battery settings
- Activate or deactivate Stay connected when device sleeps
- Confirm with OK
Private DNS
Configuring a private DNS on the Huawei smartphone optimizes network security because the data is sent and received over an encrypted channel, which requires the valid host name of the DNS provider.





- Open the Settings
- Tap on More connections
- Tap on Private DNS
- Enable Configure Private DNS
- Enter the appropriate hostname an tap Back
Delete access point (APN)
The added access points on the Huawei smartphone can be deleted at any time if incorrect data was entered or there was a network provider update.

- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Mobile data
- Tap on Access Point Names (APNs)
- Open the menu
- Tap on Delete APN
Automatic network selection
If the automatic network selection was deactivated on the Huawei smartphone because another network was searched for manually, it can be reactivated afterwards, in which case we are dialed back into the standard mobile network of our provider.

- Enable Automatic network selection
VoLTE calls
Calls are made over the 2G or 3G network by default. If VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is enabled, calls are made over the 4G network, which provides better voice quality, faster call set-up and low battery usage.




- Open the Settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Mobile data
- Enable or disable VoLTE calls
VPN (Virtual Private Network)
When setting up a VPN on the Huawei smartphone, data is encrypted, site blocking is bypassed, and our traces on the network are obscured.
Provided a valid VPN server is available, it can be easily connected or set up on the Huawei device.

- Tap on More connections
- Tap on VPN
- Tap on Add VPN network
- Enter the appropiate data and tap on Save
