LG How to Set up Screen Lock

The screen lock helps prevent unauthorized access to the LG device, and if the screen lock is not needed, the lock screen can be disabled in the settings.

To protect the LG device from access by unauthorised users, a screen lock can be set up. Depending on the model, different types of screen locks are available. LG devices usually offer the following screen locks:

• None
• Swipe
• Pattern
• PIN
• Password

In addition to this display locking, the fingerprint, if available, can also be used as an unlocking method.

Note 1: If the password, PIN or pattern is forgotten, all data of the LG device are irrevocably lost!

Note 2: We recommend to choose the type password as protection.

With "Smart Lock", the LG unit can be unlocked automatically by trusted devices or locations by using three automatic unlocking methods:

• Wearer Detection: If the device is used, turned off and then put in your pocket, the LG device may detect this and leave the device unlocked. But beware, the device cannot detect who is wearing it.
• Trusted places: Trusted places can be added to Smart Lock, such as home, workplace or other places, and the ÖG device recognises where it is located by querying the location and can automatically unlock itself to the trusted places.
• Trusted Devices: Here you can add trusted devices such as the Smartwatch or the Auto Infotainment System, and once the created devices have connected to the LG smartphone, the device will automatically unlock.

Note: This guide shows how to add trusted locations and is for illustration.

In addition to the selected screen lock, the LG device can also be unlocked with the fingerprint sensor. After adding a fingerprint, unlocking by the sensor is enabled by default, but unlocking the lock screen by fingerprint can also be disabled.

The lock timer starts as soon as the LG screen is turned off, giving the user 5 seconds as standard to wake up the screen from sleep mode without having to unlock the screen lock. The time between turning off the screen and actually locking the LG can be adjusted between 0 seconds (instant) and 30 minutes.

Note: If the "Show lockdown button" function is activated immediately, the timer will not start.

When entering the pattern on the lock screen, the input is displayed on the LG unit by default, allowing unauthorised persons to read the pattern and unlock the unit themselves. With the "make pattern visible" feature, which is enabled at the factory, disabling it makes the input invisible, making it difficult to see the correct pattern.

By default, pressing the power button immediately locks the LG unit, ignoring the lock timer. When the unit is brought out of sleep mode, the LG unit must first be unlocked.

To activate the lock timer, the "Power key instantly locks" function must be deactivated.

Lock mode is a function that temporarily disables all automatic screen lock unlocks, but when lock mode is enabled, the LG unit can only be unlocked manually using the password, PIN or pattern.

The lock mode must be re-activated each time the power is turned on. This is done by pressing and holding the power key. The "Lock" key is located at the bottom of the menu. This puts the device in sleep mode and can only be unlocked manually.
