Create album

By default, photos and videos are sorted into predefined albums in the gallery on the Samsung device. This includes the album Camera or Downloads, for example. Depending on the apps, there may be many more albums in the gallery. You can also create your own albums and add photos.

If the Samsung device supports a memory card, and one is also inserted, we can create the album on the memory card.

Android 10 (One UI 2.0)
Step 1:  Open the  Gallery -App
Step 2:  Tap on  Albums
Step 3:  Open the  menu
Step 4:  Tap on  Create album
Step 5:  Enter a  Album name , choose  Storage Location  and confirm with  Create

Delete album

On the Samsung device, the Galerie app allows you to delete all albums except the system side, deleting the album itself as well as the content from the device. Unless the Trash is enabled, the albums and content cannot be restored.

Step 4:  Tap on  Delete
Step 5:  Confirm with  Delete  /  Move to Recycle bin

Group Albums

In the Gallery app of the Samsung device, albums can be grouped into albums (folders). For example, it is possible to create additional sub-albums with the year in the group (main album) Kindergarten. In a structure, this would look something like the following

  1. Kindergarten - Main Album
    1. 2018 (sub-album)
    2. 2019 (sub-album)
    3. 2020 (sub-album)
  2. Friends - main album
    1. At the lake (lower album)
    2. Party at home (sub-album)
  3. Holiday - main album
    1. Italy
    2. and so on
  4. and so on

A deeper structure can unfortunately not be created on the Samsung device.

Step 4:  Select all other  albums  to be moved into a group
Step 5:  Tap on  Group
Step 6:  Enter a  Group name  and tap on  Create

Rename album

Albums in the gallery of the Samsung device can be renamed at any time, except for system-side albums such as camera or downloads. albums that are self-created or come from apps can be renamed.

Step 3:  Tap on desired  Album
Step 4:  Open the  menu
Step 5:  Tap on  Rename
Step 6:  Enter a new  Name  and confirm with  Rename

Cover image

By default, the album overview on the Samsung device always uses the latest image in the album as cover. Alternatively, you can select a cover image which is always displayed. The cover image can be changed at any time or you can also undo the change to the latest image.

Hide or Unhide album

Apps create some albums on the Samsung device that are not necessarily relevant, but we can hide or show albums in the gallery on request.

Rearrange Albums

albums in the gallery app can be sorted either by name or in a manually defined order. custom sorting is the same as sorting app shortcuts on the home screen. albums can be moved to their positions by simply tapping and holding.
