Add birthday to a contact

We can add birthdays to the contacts stored on the Xiaomi smartphone so we don't forget them, by selecting another contact detail or field that is set by default.

Android 10 (MIUI 12.0)
Step 1:  Open the  Contacts app
Step 2:  Choose a  contact
Step 3:  Tap on  Edit contact
Step 4:  Tap on  Add another field
Step 5:  Tap on  Birthday
Step 6:  Enter the appropriate data and tap  OK

  5. Tap on Birthday
  6. Enter the appropriate data and tap OK

Add contact details

On the Xiaomi smartphone, we can edit the contacts as we like and add numerous details such as birthdays, addresses or URL's. The following detail fields are available:

  • Call sign
  • IM
  • Address
  • Nickname
  • Internet call
  • Relationship
  • Website
  • Birthday

Note: In this guide we will edit an existing contact and just add a web page.

Step 2:  Choose a  contact
Step 3:  Tap on  Edit contact
Step 4:  Tap on  Add another field
Step 5:  Choose a  field/detail
Step 6:  Enter the appropriate  data
Step 7:  Tap on  Save

Assign a photo to contact

All contacts stored on the Xiaomi device can have their own photo in addition to their name, phone number and other information. We can select our own photos from various folders or take a photo directly.

Note: In this manual we use a saved/existing photo as profile picture.

Step 1:  Open the  Contacts app
Step 2:  Choose a  contact
Step 3:  Tap on  Edit contact
Step 4:  Tap on  Photo
Step 5:  Choose  Take photo  or  Choose photo from Gallery
Step 6:  Choose an  album
Step 7:  Choose a  photo
Step 8:  Drag the  borders  to adjust the photo
Step 9:  Tap on  OK
Step 10:  Tap on  Save
  1. Open the Contacts app
  2. Choose a contact
  3. Tap on Edit contact
  4. Tap on Photo
  5. Choose Take photo or Choose photo from Gallery
  6. Choose an album
  7. Choose a photo
  8. Drag the borders to adjust the photo
  9. Tap on OK
  10. Tap on Save

Assign a ringtone to a contact

In addition to the default ringtone on the Xiaomi smartphone, each contact can also be assigned their own ringtone, so that we can recognize who is calling by hearing the sound alone. We can choose from the pre-installed and custom ringtones.

Step 1:  Open the  Contacts app
Step 2:  Choose a  contact
Step 3:  Tap on  (Default) ringtone
Step 4:  Choose a  ringtone

  3. Tap on (Default) ringtone
  4. Choose a ringtone

Set contact as favorite

We can mark saved contacts on the Xiaomi device as favorites. Favorites are always displayed at the top of the Contacts app. Favorite contacts can be dialed faster using the Phone app.

Note: To remove Favorites, tap the Favorites icon again.
