Set Data Usage Limit

If we want to change the data limit set on the Xiaomi smartphone, for example because a tariff increase or change has taken place, we can do this at any time.

Android 10 (MIUI 12.0)
Step 1:  Open the  Security app
Step 2:  Open the  Settings
Step 3:  Tap on  Data usage
Step 4:  Tap on  Data plan
Step 5:  Tap on  Peak data limit
Step 6:  Enter the  peak data limit  and tap  OK

Warning on lock screen (data usage)

We can choose to display a data usage warning on the lock screen of the Xiaomi device after a set limit is exceeded.

Note: In this guide we will enable the lock screen warning and set the data usage warning, these steps are for illustration purposes only and can be skipped/left out.

Daily data limit

As with activating the general data limit, we can set a daily data usage limit, and then we will be warned daily if usage exceeds the limit. We can also set whether we want to be warned only by our Xiaomi smartphone, or whether we want to disable mobile data.

Reset date for data usage

We can choose when to reset the date of our data limit, and the Xiaomi smartphone will set it to zero and start monitoring data usage again.

Warning level of data usage

If we have set a maximum data limit, we can set the warning level to indicate the percentage of data usage above which we want to be warned by the Xiaomi device.

Note: We recommend a value of about 80% to have enough data volume available.

When data plan is used up

If we have reached our data limit on the Xiaomi smartphone, the mobile data is switched off by default. Alternatively, when we reach our data limit, we can choose to receive only a warning notification.

Turn on/off data usage

The data limit is a useful feature if we do not have an internet flat rate in the contract. After reaching the data limit the mobile data is deactivated by default. We can set our own data limit for this, but the function must be activated first. In the same way, the data limit can also be switched off.

Data usage settings

We can enable the data usage warning on the Xiaomi smartphone to gain control over data usage, or we can disable the data usage settings completely and receive no further warnings.
