Add keyboard

After downloading a new virtual keyboard, such as Microsoft SwiftKey, the keyboard must first be enabled or added in order to select it as the default keyboard.

Note: The various keyboards can be downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store.

Step 1:  Open the  Settings
Step 2:  Tap on  System
Step 3:  Tap on  Languages & input
Step 4:  Tap on  Virtual keyboard
Step 5:  Tap on  Manage keyboards
Step 6:  Enable an installed  keyboard
Step 7:  Confirm with  Turn on

Set default keyboard

We can change the default keyboard on the OnePlus smartphone at any time, if a different one is desired.

Additional keyboards can be obtained from the Google Play Store and must be enabled before they can be set as the default keyboard.

Some of the most popular keyboards include Gboard, Microsoft SwiftKey, and Ginger.

Delete learned words and data

The default keyboard on the OnePlus smartphone learns different words and subsequent words from our usage pattern, for example to provide correct quick predictions or suggestions for the next word.

If too much data accumulates, unwanted word suggestions can be offered, so it makes sense to reset the keyboard data.

Google voice typing

Thanks to Google voice input or typing on the OnePlus smartphone, spoken textes can be converted to make it even easier and faster to write an SMS message or email.

Wecan turn on/off Google voice typingat any time.

Note: After a restart, we must first unlock the device to use this input method.

Manage personal dictionary

The pre-installed default keyboard on the OnePlus smartphone comes with a dictionary function that can learn words and a corresponding shortcut.

For example, we can enter and save words or short sentences that the device or keyboard doesn't know, to quickly retrieve them with a shortcut to increase typing speed.

If several keyboard languages are selected, we can also specify which language should learn a new term.

Share usage statistics

We can decide for ourselves whether the usage statistics of the keyboard on the OnePlus smartphone should be shared, for example to improve services.

Statistical information on usage is sent to Google and evaluated.

One-handed mode

When using the OnePlus smartphone with only one hand, difficulties may arise during text entry or text composition, as the thumb may not reach the other end of the keyboard.

To make the device easier to use, you can enable the one-handed mode, which pins the keyboard to the left or right side of the screen.
