LG How to Adjust Security Settings

Find My Mobile
With the "Find My Device" function, the LG device can be located remotely. If the location is activated, a location query can be made. Turning on mobile data or a WLAN connection increases accuracy.
If "Find My Device" is enabled on the LG unit, the unit can also be reset to factory settings in case of loss or theft.
If the function is not desired, it can be disabled in the settings (enabled by default).

- Open the Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Lock screen & security
- Tap on Find My Device
- Enable or Disable Find My Device
Google Play Protect
The "Google Play Protect" feature protects the LG device from malicious apps by scanning the app for malware before downloading and during installation by Google, as well as periodically checking apps from unknown sources.
In case of a detection, a notification will be displayed on the LG device. Depending on the severity of the malware, the app can also be automatically deactivated by Play Protect until it is uninstalled.
Google Play Protect is a function of the App Store Google Play, so there is no direct option in the settings, but only a link to the function, where it can be enabled or disabled.

- Open the Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Lock screen & security
- Tap on Google Play Protect
- Open the Settings
- Enable or Disable Scan apps with Play Protect
Install unknown apps
There is no longer a central setting on the LG device to install apps from unknown sources, this option must now be enabled directly in the app from which the APK is to be installed.
For example, if you have downloaded an APK via the Google Chrome browser, you must give the app permission to install it.

- Open the Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Apps & notifications
- Tap on Special access
- Tap on Install unknown apps
- Tap on desired App
- Enable or Disable Allow from this source
Make passwords visible
By default, the LG smartphone displays the password input, which means that the input in the text field is visible for a short time before it becomes invisible in an asterisk (*).
This delay can be deactivated in the security settings of the LG device, making it more difficult to read the password.

- Open the Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Lock screen & security
- Enable or Disable Make passwords visible
Device Administrators
Device administrators are apps on the LG smartphone that have extensive access to the device, so device administrators should only be selected if the app is considered secure. The following permissions are granted:
- Delete all data: The app can reset the device to factory defaults, which means that all data is irrevocably lost.
- Change password of screen lock
- Lock display
- Deactivating display lock functions

- Open the Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Lock screen & security
- Tap on Phone administrators
- Enable or Disable desired App
