Select to Speak

Reading aloud is a similar function to TalkBack, but it does not change the way the LG smartphone is operated. When Reading aloud is activated, an additional icon is displayed in the navigation bar. This can be used to switch reading aloud on or off. If activated, a screen area can be selected which is then read aloud.

Android 9 (LG UX 9.0)
Step 1:  Open the  Settings
Step 2:  Tap on  General
Step 3:  Tap on  Accessibility
Step 4:  Tap on  Select to Speak
Step 5:  Enable or Disable  Select to Speak
Step 6:  Confirm with  Turn on

  4. Tap on Select to Speak
  5. Enable or Disable Select to Speak
  6. Confirm with Turn on

Voice output

The voice output of the read aloud function can be adjusted on the LG smartphone, and in addition to selecting the service, you can also change the language, speaking rate and pitch.

Step 1:  Open the  Settings
Step 2:  Tap on  General
Step 3:  Tap on  Accessibility
Step 4:  Tap on  Select to Speak
Step 5:  Open the  Settings
Step 6:  Tap on  Text to speech settings
Step 7:  Move  Slider  to adjust Output

  3. Tap on Accessibility
  4. Tap on Select to Speak
  5. Open the Settings
  6. Tap on Text to speech settings
  7. Move Slider to adjust Output

Read in background

If the "Read out in background" function is activated, the text will continue to be read out even if the app has been closed.

Note: This function is experimental, which means that it may not work properly under certain circumstances.
