Privacy protection password

On the Oppo smartphone we can set a privacy password which is required for the App Lock and Private Safe functions. The privacy password is not the same as the unlock password for the screen lock, but can also be a pattern, password or PIN.

This guide shows how to set a privacy password on the Oppo smartphone under ColorOS.

Note: Do not forget the privacy password and the security question!

Step 3:  Tap on  Set privacy password

Send diagnostic data

Anyone who wants to contribute to improving Android can share Oppo smartphone usage & diagnostic data with Google and its partners. We do not disclose exactly what data is collected, but the following usage & diagnostic data, among others, will be sent if the feature is enabled

  • Battery charge status
  • System activities
  • App activities
  • Crashes and bug reports

Google location history

If Google Location History is enabled, virtually every step you take with Oppo smartphone is recorded. Every street, building, restaurant and even the time taken is stored in Google Location History. On Oppo smartphone, you can enable or disable this feature in your privacy settings.

Step 5:  Enable or Disable  Location History
Step 6:  Scroll down

Personalized Ads

In order to display personalized advertising, every Oppo smartphone has a unique Advertising ID. Personalized data about the Advertising ID is stored based on usage and surfing behavior. The Advertising ID can either be recreated or deactivated completely. In the latter case, the Advertising ID is no longer sent to advertisers. Advertising is still displayed, but no longer personalized.

Step 4:  Enable or Disable  Limit ad tracking

Reset advertising ID

In order to display personalized advertising, a unique Advertising ID is generated on the Oppo smartphone. All user interests are linked to this ID. In addition to deactivating interest-based advertising, the Advertising ID can also be reset.

Activity Settings

Google stores a lot of data, including on the Oppo smartphone. if the activity settings are not adjusted, the Oppo device collects data such as web & app activity, location history, YouTube history, and more. this data is associated with the Google Account you're signed in to. if you don't want this, you can adjust the activity settings.
