Allow data usage by apps (Wi-Fi, mobile Data)
You can set yourself, which apps on your Huawei device are allowed to use mobile datas and/or Wi-Fi.You can, for example, deactivate the mobile data network access for videostreaming.





- Open the settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Data usage
- Tap on Network access
- Activate or deactivate Mobile data/Wi-Fi for the app you want
Allow background data/roaming for apps
We can set, which apps are allowed to use your mobile data in the background or is allowed to use the internet while roaming is on.
Note: If you deactivate background data for messenger apps like for example WhatsApp, you will receive your messages later or no messages at all.

- Tap on Network access
- Open the menu
- Tap on Advanced network settings
- Activate or deactivate background/roaming data for the apps you want to restrict
Full-Screen Display
The Huawei device suggests, which app have not been optimized for full-screen mode. You can still activate the function and set the setting for each of these apps individually.

App permission manager
You will find an overview of which apps on the Huawei smartphone are authorized to use special functions or other apps. So you can see exactly how many and which apps exactly do have the access rights of, for example, the camera. Access can also be switched on / off here. In the overview you will find the following permission categories:

Change system settings-access
You can set specific apps that are allowed to access and change system settings of your Huawei Smartphone.

Unrestricted data access
You can allow apps on your Huawei smartphone to have unlimited data access, which means that the app can access data traffic in any case, unrestricted.

App-permissions
We can set the permissions of individual apps on the Huawei smartphone to protect part of our privacy. Here we can choose which app has access to which function. Authorizations that have already been given can always be changed or withdrawn afterwards. The permissions include access to the location, camera, contacts, microphone, memory, calendar, SMS and others.

App data usage
You can monitor and change the network access of individual apps on the Huawei smartphone, if desired. You can independently set whether an app is given access to the mobile data. You can also determine whether the background data should be activated. The app uses the network in the background. You can also activate and deactivate the roaming data if you are abroad.
Note: If the background data for messenger apps, such as WhatsApp, is deactivated, messages may no longer be loaded or may be delayed.

Location access for apps
You can determine which apps are allowed to access your location and which are not. Here you can choose whether the location is always allowed, only while using the app, or not at all.
Your Huawei device offers you three choices:
- Allow all the time
- Allow only while using the app
- Deny
Note: In this guide we choose an app and give it location access while in use. The above steps are for illustration only.

Smart data saver for individual apps
The Huawei smartphone comes with a smart data saver optimization feature that can be (de)activated for individual apps. This feature restricts the data usage of apps in the background. If
smart data saver is activated, individual apps can be excluded to add them to the exception. The selected apps are no longer affected by the data saver feature.
Note: When activating smart data saver of Messenger or mail apps, the reception of e-mails and messages may be delayed.

App-Timer
On the Huawei smartphone, an app timer or limit can be set to limit the daily usage time of individual apps to better monitor them.
The set time is automatically reset at midnight and counts the usage time from the beginning.

App launch
The Huawei smartphone manages the app launch automatically by default. If we want a little more control over the app launch, we can always disable the automatic and manage the apps individually.

Picture-in-Picture
Picture-in-picture permission allows an app on the Huawei smartphone to show itself in a pop-up or floating window over another app.
An example would be to show a video while writing an SMS in the news app. This permission can be granted or revoked at any time.

Special app access
We can view and manage the special accesses of apps on the Huawei smartphone. These are special permissions requested by an app. The
permission can be granted and revoked at any time under this menu item.
Note: In this manual we only navigate to the overview of special accesses. To grant or revoke an authorization, the function and the corresponding app must be selected.

Draw over other apps
Some apps require the permission to show above other apps.
The best example is Facebook Messenger, when a new message is received, the profile picture of the chat partner is displayed and therefore shows up on other apps.
We can grant or revoke this permission for each individual app.
