I want to make my alarm go off while my phone is switched off but I don't know how to.

Have you tried pressing the volume buttons? Please check the function of the volume buttons in the alarm settings. Please follow these steps to check it:

Assign alarm functions for volume buttons - Open the menu
Assign alarm functions for volume buttons - Open the Settings
Assign alarm functions for volume buttons - Tap on Volume buttons
Assign alarm functions for volume buttons - Choose  Control volume , Snooze or Dismiss

  4. Tap on Volume buttons
