Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro Notification badges for WhatsApp

LAst week I received my new Xiaomi Mi10T Pro phone. Things are going well, except one strange thing: whatever I try, I cannot see the notification badges on the Whatsapp-app. I have turned them on by settings; turned everything on in the App itself. Maybe you have a solution or idea how to solve this? Thanks, Roland.
