Next to the space bar, the emoji key is shown by default, which we can use to display the emoji overview.
If the quick access via emoji key is not desired, it can be disabled in the keyboard preferences.
Note: If the Emoji-switch key is turned on, the language change button is not displayed.

- Tap on Languages and input
- Tap on On-screen keyboard
- Tap on Gboard
- Tap on Preferences
- Enable or disable Show emoji-switch key
