Turn Google Location History On or Off auf Android
Google Location History records where your Android device has been and links that data to your Google account, even when you are not actively using a Google app. It runs as a background service tied to your location settings rather than to any single app, which is why it can stay active without you noticing.
This history is used to build personalized maps, timeline entries and recommendations based on places you have visited. If you never intended to share that level of detail, or you share the device with someone else, switching it off prevents new visits from being saved going forward.
To change the setting, go to Settings ➔ Location ➔ Location services ➔ Google Location History and switch Location History on or off.
Turning it off only stops future tracking. Existing entries stay stored in your Google account until you remove them separately. If you only want to hide your location temporarily instead of disabling history entirely, using device-level location permissions per app is usually a better fix, since it avoids affecting your saved timeline data.
