I set alarm to go off in morning say 08:00 it shows alarm signal on top of screen then it disappears and alarm does not go off . I can set alarm to go off in a couple of mins and it will work but set it for next day no luck

could it be that you have chosen a day in the settings for waking you up? You can set days in addition to the time, and if you did not deactivate it, it will forever wake you up every monday on 8 am. If you press the little arrow besides the time you want to set, you can change the days where you want to be woken up by the alarm.
Another problem could be that you maybe set "no alarm sound in silence mode", the alarm goes off but as your phone is silence, so is the alarm sound. This can be changed in the settings.
