SD card readers won't work with my A50

Question

I've got a couple SD card readers that I'm trying to use to move files from an SD card to my phone. My A50 won't recognize any of the SD card readers. I understand that the A50 is supposed to have the ability to do this. I've checked it with the "USB OTG checker" app and it said it does. Any ideas how to get it to work? I'm just trying to transfer .jpgs to my phone and view them.

I don't think a card reader is ready for this, but I will talk to my colleague about it.

Alternatively, you could put the micro SD (if it's not just SD) in the phone or use a computer.

It's for in the field use. No micro SD or computer available. I've done this on my older Galaxsy S7 and my son's J3 Aura. No problems with those phones.
