Button Key that displays multiple open apps at the same time not working

The shortcut key/button at the bottom of my screen( I don't know it's name but it's a square-shapped filled box) that enables multiple open pages to display at the same time and minimize/maximize at will, suddenly stopped working and now does nothing. Please help
