Huawei: Add a Birthday to a Contact

Saved contacts on your Huawei phone often stay incomplete right after you save the first number. Without a birthday field filled in, your phone can never remind you when that date comes around. Adding it later takes a few taps in the contact details.

Add a Birthday to a Contact auf Huawei

New contacts on a Huawei phone are usually saved with just a name and number. Fields like birthday, address or company are optional and stay empty unless you add them yourself.

Without a stored birthday, EMUI cannot trigger a reminder or show the date anywhere in the contact card. You have to add it manually, and this only takes a few extra fields inside the existing contact entry.

Where to add the birthday

Open the Contacts app and pick the contact you want to update. Tap Edit, then Add more fields. Select Date in the Birthday field, enter the day, month and year, and confirm with OK.

The date is saved directly to the contact card. If you later sync contacts to a Google or Huawei account, the birthday travels with the rest of the contact data as long as sync is enabled for that account.

If you only want a one-time reminder instead of a permanently stored date, a calendar event is the better option. The birthday field is meant for contact records you plan to keep long-term.
