Huawei: Add a Contact Shortcut to the Home Screen

Every time you need to call your parents or message a close friend, digging through the Contacts app costs time. Huawei lets you pin a contact straight to the home screen as a shortcut, so a single tap opens the contact, starts a call, or opens a message thread. This works for one contact at a time, and you can repeat it for as many people as you need.

Add Contact Shortcut to Home Screen auf Huawei

A contact shortcut is a small icon on your home screen that links directly to one person in your address book. It skips the step of opening the Contacts app and searching a list every time you want to reach someone.

Huawei builds this feature into the Contacts app itself, not into a separate widget or launcher setting. Once created, the shortcut behaves like an app icon: tap it and the linked action runs immediately.

To create one, follow this path:

Open ContactsChoose a contactTap on MoreTap on Create shortcutChoose between View contact, Call or Message

The last step decides what the shortcut actually does. Picking View contact opens the full contact card, useful if you need to check multiple details before acting. Picking Call or Message skips straight to that action, which is faster for people you contact the same way every time.

Repeat the process for every contact you want on the home screen. Each one gets its own icon, and you can move or group them like any other app shortcut.

If you remove the shortcut later, the contact itself stays untouched in your address book. Only the home screen icon disappears.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Repeat the process and choose a different option at the last step: Choose between View contact, Call or Message. This creates a second, separate icon on the home screen.
