Huawei: Enable or Disable AI-Lens

If your Huawei camera keeps popping up code reader, translation, shopping or calorie icons you never asked for, AI-Lens is running in the background. It scans whatever the lens sees to identify objects, translate text or check nutrition info, and that constant scanning also adds a small delay to the viewfinder. Switching it off - or back on when you actually need it - only takes one tap.

Enable or Disable AI-Lens auf Huawei

AI-Lens sits inside the Huawei camera app and reacts the moment it recognizes a barcode, printed text, food or a shopping item in the frame. That live scanning is what triggers the small icons for code reader, instant translation, shopping, calories and identify while you point the camera at something.

To switch it on or off, open the camera app and tap the AI-Lens icon in the viewfinder controls: Open CameraActivate AI-Lens. Tapping the same icon again turns the feature off and returns the viewfinder to plain photo mode.

Keeping AI-Lens active makes sense if you regularly translate menus, scan QR codes or check calories on packaging. Because the camera constantly analyzes the image, it can add a short delay before the shutter reacts and occasionally trigger shopping suggestions you did not ask for.

If you only need one function, for example the code reader, opening AI-Lens on demand and picking that mode manually works better than leaving auto-scanning on all the time. Turning AI-Lens off does not change regular photo or video quality, it only removes the extra recognition layer on top of the viewfinder.

Frequently asked questions

AI-Lens scans the live camera feed and displays a matching icon as soon as it recognizes text, a barcode or food in the frame. Turning the feature off with Activate AI-Lens stops that automatic scanning.
