Huawei: Manage Notifications for Individual Apps

If your Huawei phone keeps buzzing with alerts from apps you barely open, the notification switch for that app is probably still turned on. EMUI shows notifications for every installed app by default, so noisy apps stay active until you switch them off one by one. This gets annoying fast if messaging or game apps flood your lock screen while important alerts get lost in the mix.

Turn Off Notifications for Specific Apps auf Huawei

Huawei phones running EMUI enable notifications for every app right after installation. That includes apps you rarely open, which is why your lock screen and notification shade fill up with alerts you never asked for.

Each app has its own notification switch inside the system settings. Turning it off stops banners, sounds and badge icons for that specific app, while every other app keeps notifying you as usual.

To reach the switch, open SettingsNotifications, then tap More notification settings. From there you can activate or deactivate Allow notifications for the app you picked.

This setting only affects the selected app. If you want to silence several apps at once, repeat the same steps for each one.

If notifications from an app still show up after you turn the switch off, check whether the app has a separate in-app notification setting. Some apps, especially messaging and email clients, manage their own alerts independently of the system toggle.

Turning off notifications does not stop the app from running in the background. If you also want to limit background activity or data usage, that requires a different setting outside the notification menu.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Once you switch off Allow notifications for an app under SettingsNotificationsMore notification settings, that app cannot show previews on the lock screen, banners, or badge icons.
