Huawei: Allow Calls and SMS Access for a Secondary User

Huawei phones running EMUI let you create separate user profiles, each with its own apps and data. By default, a secondary profile does not automatically get access to the phone number, call log, or SMS conversations tied to the device owner.

This separation exists for privacy: a guest or child profile should not read your messages or place calls under your number unless you explicitly allow it. The setting that controls this lives inside the user management area, not inside the Phone or Messages app itself, which is why many people never find it.

To enable or disable this access, go to Settings ➔ Users & accounts ➔ Users, open the menu next to the profile in question, and toggle Allow calls, messages, and sharing of communication history.

Turning this on lets the secondary user place and receive calls and texts through your SIM, and it merges the communication history between profiles. Turning it off isolates that user again, useful once you no longer want a guest profile to see your conversations.

If the toggle looks greyed out, check that the profile is fully set up and that you are logged in as the device owner, since only the owner account can change this permission.
