Huawei: Add Alternate Calendars to the Calendar App

If your Calendar app only shows Gregorian dates, religious or cultural holidays like Islamic, Hebrew, or Chinese Lunar dates stay invisible next to your regular entries. EMUI hides this option inside the Calendar settings by default, so most users never notice it exists. Adding an alternate calendar shows a second date line under each day without replacing your main calendar.

Show Alternate Calendars in the Calendar App auf Huawei

The Calendar app on Huawei phones defaults to the Gregorian calendar. Cultural or religious dates from calendars like Chinese Lunar, Islamic, Hebrew, Persian, Buddhist, Japanese, Indian National, or Korean stay hidden unless you enable them manually.

This setting adds a secondary date display underneath the existing entries. It does not replace your primary calendar system or change how events are scheduled.

Where to find the setting

Open Calendar appOpen the menuOpen the SettingsTap on Alternate calendarsSet an alternate calendar. Pick the calendar you need from the list. The change applies immediately in month, week, and day views.

Only one alternate calendar shows at a time next to the Gregorian dates. Switching to a different alternate calendar replaces the previous one, it does not stack multiple systems on screen.

This feature is separate from time zone or region settings. If dates still look wrong after enabling an alternate calendar, check your device region and language settings instead.

Frequently asked questions

No. EMUI only shows one alternate calendar alongside the Gregorian dates. Selecting a new one under Alternate calendars replaces the previous choice.
