Huawei: Lock Individual Apps with App Lock

Anyone who picks up your Huawei phone while it is unlocked can open messaging, banking, or gallery apps without any extra check. App Lock adds a second PIN or password on top of your screen lock, but only for the apps you choose to protect.

Enable App Lock auf Huawei

Your screen lock protects the whole phone, but it does not stop someone from opening a specific app once the device is unlocked. App Lock closes that gap by asking for a separate code before an app opens, even if the phone itself is already unlocked.

This is useful for messaging apps, banking apps, or anything with personal photos and contacts. You can pick a different code than your screen lock password, or reuse the same one, depending on how strict you want the protection to be.

How to turn on App Lock

Go to Open the settingsTap on SecurityTap on App LockTap on Enable and follow the instructions on the screen.

During setup you choose the locking method: your existing unlock password or a separate PIN created just for App Lock. After that, you select which apps require the extra step each time they are opened.

If an app keeps asking for the code even right after unlocking the phone, that is expected behavior. App Lock is designed to check every time the app is launched, not just once per session.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. During setup under Tap on App Lock you can choose a separate PIN instead of reusing your unlock password.
