Huawei: Manage App Permissions

If you are not sure which apps on your Huawei phone can access the camera, microphone or contacts, the permission overview is easy to lose track of. Many apps request broad access during setup, and it is not always obvious afterwards which function is actually still active. A dedicated permission manager lets you check and adjust this per function instead of digging through every single app.

App Permission Manager auf Huawei

EMUI groups app permissions by function instead of only by app. That means you can check in one place which apps currently have access to the camera, microphone, location or contacts, rather than opening every app individually.

This view is useful after installing several new apps, or when you notice unexpected activity such as the camera indicator appearing without an obvious reason. Sorting by function also helps you spot apps that were granted access during setup but never actually need it for their core purpose.

To open the manager, go to Open the settingsTap on AppsTap on AppsOpen the menuTap on App permissionsChoose a function. Selecting a function like Camera or Microphone shows every app with that permission and lets you switch access on or off directly.

Turning off a permission here only affects that specific function. Other permissions the app holds stay untouched, so features unrelated to the disabled access continue working normally.

If an app stops working correctly after you revoke a permission, it usually needs that access for a core feature, not just background collection. In that case, re-enabling the permission for that single app is faster than resetting all app permissions.

Frequently asked questions

Some permissions get granted automatically when you accept a general setup prompt or an app bundles a related permission with one you approved. Check Open the settingsTap on AppsTap on AppsOpen the menuTap on App permissions to see the exact function and app pairing before deciding to disable it.
