Enable or Disable Auto-align auf Huawei
Auto-align is a home screen behavior in EMUI that closes gaps automatically. When you uninstall or remove an app, every icon after that spot moves one position forward to fill the empty tile.
This is convenient if you want a home screen without holes, but it becomes a problem if you rely on a fixed layout. Icons you placed deliberately on certain pages or next to specific widgets can shift position the moment any app disappears, even from a different page.
Folders are treated the same way as single apps, so removing one app from a folder can also trigger a re-sort of the surrounding grid. Widgets themselves usually stay in place, but the app icons around them do not.
You control this behavior in the home screen settings. Open Open the settings ➔ Tap on Home screen & wallpaper ➔ Tap on Home screen settings ➔ Activate or deactivate Auto-align.
Turn the switch off if you want empty spaces to stay empty until you fill them yourself. Turn it on if you prefer a home screen that always looks fully packed after removing apps.
