Huawei: Create a Folder on the Home Screen

When your Huawei home screen fills up with scattered app icons, finding the app you need turns into a scroll-and-search game. Grouping related apps into a folder clears space and keeps similar tools together. EMUI builds this folder automatically once you combine two app icons.

Create a Folder on the Home Screen auf Huawei

A cluttered Huawei home screen usually comes from installing apps one by one without ever sorting them. EMUI does not create folders automatically, so icons pile up in the order they were installed until you group them yourself.

Creating a folder does not move apps to a different location or uninstall anything. It simply nests two or more app icons inside one container icon, freeing up home screen slots for other shortcuts or widgets.

How to create the folder

Tap and hold an appPull the app onto another appDrop the app to create the folder

Once the folder appears, you can keep dragging more apps into it the same way. Tap the folder to open it and see all grouped apps at once.

If you only want to move an app to a different spot on the home screen without merging it into a group, drag it to an empty space instead of dropping it on another icon. Dropping on empty space repositions the app; dropping on another icon creates or extends a folder.
