Huawei: Delete a Keyboard Language in SwiftKey

Once you have added several keyboard languages, switching between them on your Huawei phone gets slower and the language bar feels cluttered. Layouts you no longer type in still sit in the SwiftKey Keyboard language list and keep their dictionary data on your storage. Removing an unused language tidies up the list and frees the space its data occupied.

Delete a Keyboard Language auf Huawei

SwiftKey Keyboard on Huawei phones stores a separate language pack for every layout you install, including its dictionary and prediction data. If you switch languages often but only use one or two regularly, the extra entries clutter the language list and take up space you cannot always see in the storage overview.

To remove a language, open Open the settingsTap on System & updatesTap on Language & inputTap on SwiftKey KeyboardTap on Languages. Tap and hold the language you want to delete, then confirm with Delete.

Deleting a language removes its data completely. If you need it again later, you have to download it again through the same Languages menu, which requires an active internet connection.

If you only want to hide a language temporarily without losing its data, disabling it instead of deleting it is the better option, since re-enabling it is instant and does not need a new download. Deleting is the right move when you are sure you will not type in that language for a while and want to reclaim the storage.

Note that SwiftKey Keyboard always keeps at least one active language, so you cannot delete the last one remaining on the list.

Frequently asked questions

No. Deleting a language inside Languages only removes that language pack and its dictionary. SwiftKey Keyboard stays installed with your remaining languages intact.
