Huawei: Delete a Contact Group

If a contact group on your Huawei phone is outdated or no longer needed, you can remove it without losing the contacts inside it. Deleting a group only removes the grouping itself, not the people stored in your contact list. This is useful when you organized contacts for a one-off event or project and want a cleaner overview in the Contacts app.

Delete a Contact Group auf Huawei

Contact groups in EMUI help you sort people for calls, messages or sharing, but unused groups quickly clutter the overview in the Contacts app.

Deleting a group only removes the label and the grouping logic. All contacts that were part of it stay in your phone's contact list untouched.

To remove a group, open Open the Contacts appTap on GroupsChoose a groupTap on MoreTap on Delete groupConfirm with Delete.

This works for groups you created yourself. If a group was generated automatically by an account sync (for example a work or email account), it may reappear after the next sync, since the source data still exists on that account.

If you actually want to remove people, not just the group, you need to delete the individual contacts separately from the Contacts app.

Frequently asked questions

No. Removing a group only deletes the grouping itself. The contacts stay available under Contacts and in any other groups they belong to.
