Huawei: Manage Device Administrator Permissions

Device administrator rights give an app control that goes beyond normal permissions. An authorized app can change security settings, force a screen lock, erase local data or even trigger a full device wipe.

Huawei apps and third-party tools request this status for legitimate reasons. A company mobile-device-management profile needs it to enforce security policies. Find My Phone needs it to lock or erase the device remotely if it gets lost. Some antivirus or parental-control apps ask for it to prevent unauthorized uninstalls.

This is also why an app sometimes cannot be removed the normal way: as long as it holds administrator status, the system blocks the uninstall until the rights are revoked first.

Where to check and change device administrators

Open Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Security ➔ Tap on More settings ➔ Tap on Device administrators. This screen lists every app that currently holds admin status.

Tap Choose an administrator to see its details, then use Activate or deactivate the device administrator to change the status. Deactivating an entry that belongs to a work profile or a lock-and-locate tool disables that specific protection immediately.

If an app is tied to a company account or a legitimate anti-theft tool, disabling it here usually is not the right fix. Removing the account or uninstalling the app through its own settings first is safer and avoids leaving the phone without the protection it was set up for.
