Huawei: Turn Do Not Disturb On or Off

If calls suddenly go straight to a busy signal or message alerts stop making a sound on your Huawei phone, Do Not Disturb is likely switched on. The mode silences calls, messages and system alerts at once, and it can also trigger itself on a schedule without you noticing. Knowing where this setting lives helps you turn it off fast or set it up the way you actually want.

Enable or Disable Do Not Disturb auf Huawei

Do Not Disturb on Huawei phones mutes incoming call ringtones, message alerts and most system sounds in one step. Calls still come through but get rejected automatically with a short busy tone instead of ringing.

This behavior is controlled through EMUI sound settings, not through individual app notification settings. That is why muting a single app will not stop Do Not Disturb from silencing everything else.

Where to turn it on or off

Go to Open the settingsTap on Sounds & vibrationTap on Do Not DisturbActivate Do Not Disturb or Scheduled.

Choosing Do Not Disturb switches the mode on immediately and keeps it active until you turn it off manually. Choosing Scheduled lets the phone switch the mode on and off automatically at set times, for example overnight, without you touching the setting again.

If calls or alerts stay silent even after you think you turned the mode off, check whether a schedule is still active in the same menu. A forgotten schedule is the most common reason Do Not Disturb seems to turn itself back on.

Use manual activation for short periods, like a meeting, and a schedule for recurring times, like sleep hours. If you only want to silence one app instead of the whole phone, adjust that app's notification settings separately rather than relying on Do Not Disturb.

Frequently asked questions

Check the same menu under Open the settingsTap on Sounds & vibrationTap on Do Not Disturb for an active Scheduled entry. A running schedule silences the phone again even after you switch off the manual option.
