Restrict App Downloads to WiFi Only auf Huawei
By default, the Play Store on many Huawei phones is allowed to download apps and updates over any available connection, including mobile data. If you have noticed unexpected data usage after installing or updating apps, this download preference is usually the cause.
The setting lives inside the Play Store itself, separate from the general network settings of your phone. Turning off mobile data for the Play Store app in the system settings can work too, but it also blocks other Play Store functions like reviews or search while on the go. The dedicated download preference only restricts the actual downloading of app files, leaving the rest of the store usable on mobile data.
To limit downloads to WiFi only, go to Open the Play Store ➤ Open the menu ➤ Open the Settings ➤ Tap on App download preference ➤ Select Over Wi-Fi only ➤ Tap on Done.
Once this is set, downloads and updates queue up automatically and start as soon as your phone connects to a WiFi network. If you need an app urgently and only have mobile data available, you have to switch the preference back temporarily or download that one app manually with a confirmation prompt, depending on the store version.
