Enable or Disable Emergency Location Service (ELS) auf Huawei
Emergency Location Service (ELS) is a background function built into EMUI on Huawei phones. It only activates when you place an emergency call or send an emergency text, and it works independently from the regular Google Location Services toggle.
If Google Location Services are switched off, EMUI can still use ELS to calculate an approximate position from cell towers, Wi-Fi networks and GPS signals, then send that data to emergency services and first responders. This happens automatically in the background without asking for confirmation, since the goal is getting coordinates to rescue teams as fast as possible.
To check or change the setting, open Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Location ➔ Tap on Emergency Location Service ➔ Enable or disable Send ELS Location. Turning it on keeps this fallback active even when location services are disabled elsewhere. Turning it off removes that fallback, so dispatchers only get whatever information your carrier can pull from the call itself.
Leave ELS enabled if you often travel, hike or drive through areas with patchy coverage. Disable it only if you have strict privacy reasons and accept that responders might need longer to locate you.
