Encrypt Memory Card auf Huawei
Micro SD cards hold photos, documents and app data outside a phone's built-in storage. If the card is lost, stolen or simply removed, anyone with a basic card reader can browse everything on it from a different device.
EMUI includes a dedicated encryption function for exactly this case. It ties the memory card to the specific Huawei phone that performed the encryption. After the process finishes, the card only mounts and shows files correctly on that same device. Inserted into a computer, another phone or a different Android device, it appears empty or unreadable.
The setting is not in the general storage menu but under security:
Settings ➔ Security ➔ More settings ➔ Encryption and credentials ➔ Encrypt memory card ➔ confirm with Encrypt memory card.
The process runs in the background and its duration depends on how much data is already stored on the card. Keep the phone charged and do not remove the card while encryption is running, since an interruption can damage the stored files.
This function makes sense mainly if the card stays permanently in one phone. If you regularly move the card between devices, computers or camera-style accessories, encryption is the wrong fix, since none of those other devices will be able to read it afterward.
