Enable High Contrast Text (Accessibility) auf Huawei
Standard fonts in EMUI use thin strokes that blend into busy backgrounds or lose definition in direct sunlight. The High contrast text feature adds a bold black outline around letters across menus, notifications and most apps, which increases the visible contrast without changing the font size.
This setting lives inside the Accessibility area of the system settings, separate from font size and screen zoom. It works well together with larger text or a darker theme, but it does not replace them - if letters are still too small, adjust the font size separately.
To switch it on or off:
Open the settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility features ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Activate or deactivate High contrast text
The change applies immediately across the interface. Some third-party apps with custom fonts may not follow the outline, since the feature mainly affects system-drawn text and native Android UI elements.
If reading is still difficult after enabling this option, check the Accessibility area for additional display adjustments such as color correction or bold text, which can be combined with High contrast text.
