Huawei: Lock Your Home Screen Layout

Dragging an icon by accident on your Huawei home screen can undo hours of careful arranging. EMUI has a Lock layout option that freezes every app and widget in place once you are happy with the setup. Without it, a stray swipe, a kid grabbing your phone, or an app update can shuffle everything again.

Lock the Home Screen Layout auf Huawei

Icons on a Huawei home screen move more easily than most people expect. A long press followed by a small finger slip, a kid swiping through the phone, or even an app reinstalling itself can push widgets and shortcuts into new spots.

EMUI includes a Lock layout switch that stops this from happening. Once activated, every icon and widget stays exactly where you placed it. You cannot drag, delete, resize, or add anything to the home screen until you turn the option off again.

You find it under Open the settingsTap on Home screen & wallpaperTap on Home screen settingsActivate or deactivate Lock layout.

This is the right fix once you have a final arrangement you want to keep. If you rearrange icons often or install new apps regularly, leave the option deactivated, since it blocks any changes until you switch it back off.

One side effect worth knowing: new apps installed while the layout is locked will not appear on the home screen automatically. Check the app drawer instead, or deactivate Lock layout briefly to place them.
