Huawei: Manage Lock Screen Notifications

Lock screen notifications on a Huawei phone are controlled by a single setting group under Notifications. By default, new messages and app alerts appear with full text as soon as they arrive, even while the screen is locked. That is convenient for a quick glance, but it also means anyone near the device can read the content without unlocking it.

Huawei offers a middle ground between showing everything and showing nothing. You can keep the notification badge and sender name visible so you know something arrived, while the actual message text stays hidden until you unlock the phone. This is useful for banking apps, messengers, or work email where the sender is fine to see but the content is not.

To change the behavior, go to Open the settings ➔ Tap on Notifications ➔ Tap on Lock screen notifications. From there, choose between Show, Do not show, or Show but hide contents.

Pick Do not show if you want the lock screen completely free of alerts, for example when using a shared or work device. Pick Show but hide contents if you still want to react quickly to incoming calls or messages without exposing what they say. This setting applies system-wide, so individual apps will follow the choice unless they have their own separate notification privacy option.
