Mobile Hotspot Auto Turn-Off Timer auf Huawei
The mobile hotspot on a Huawei phone can stay switched on indefinitely, even after every connected device has disconnected. This happens because EMUI treats the hotspot as a manually toggled feature by default, not something tied to actual usage.
The inactivity timer changes that behavior. It monitors the hotspot for a period without any data traffic and switches it off automatically once that window passes. This is useful when you regularly forget to turn the hotspot off after sharing your connection, since an active hotspot with no devices attached still consumes battery and keeps the antenna active.
Where to find the setting
Go to Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Mobile network ➔ Tap on Tethering & portable hotspot ➔ Tap on Personal hotspot ➔ Tap on Configure hotspot ➔ Tap on Mobile hotspot turn-off timer. Choose 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or Never, then confirm with Tap on OK.
A shorter timer saves battery but means the hotspot shuts off during brief pauses, such as a laptop going idle for a few minutes. Setting it to Never keeps the connection available at all times, which makes sense if you tether a device that sends data intermittently but should not lose the connection between bursts.
