Huawei: Move Several Apps Into One Folder

On many Huawei home screens a folder only ever seems to hold two apps, so new icons keep piling up outside it. The home screen gets crowded again even though a folder already exists for exactly those apps. A hidden add option inside the folder lets you place more than two apps in it without dragging every single icon by hand.

Move Apps Into a Folder auf Huawei

On EMUI a folder is not limited to two apps. That limit only shows up because most people create a folder by dragging one icon onto another, which stops after the second app lands inside.

The add option inside the folder itself removes that limit. It lets you select any number of installed apps at once and place them into the same folder in one step.

Add more apps to an existing folder

Open the folder on your home screen first. Then tap on Tap on a folderTap on AddChoose the apps and confirm with OK.

Every app you tick in that list moves into the folder immediately after you confirm. The apps disappear from the home screen and appear as new icons inside the folder.

Dragging one icon onto another still works and creates a new folder or adds a single app to an existing one. Use the add option instead whenever you want to sort several apps into one folder without repeating that drag motion for each icon.

If an app is missing from the list inside the add screen, it is usually already placed in another folder or hidden in a secondary app drawer, not something wrong with the folder itself.

Frequently asked questions

Check whether the extra apps landed in a second folder page instead. Open the folder, swipe between its pages, or use Tap on Add again to confirm which apps are actually assigned to it.
