Huawei: Set Up Raise-to-Ear Call Actions

Raise to ear is part of EMUI's motion control system. It detects when you lift the phone to your ear and triggers one of several actions depending on what is happening on screen.

Four actions are tied to this gesture: answering an incoming call, placing a call directly from an open contact card, switching audio to the earpiece from loudspeaker (Smart speaker), and switching audio to a connected Bluetooth headset (Smart Bluetooth headset). If calls don't connect when you raise the phone, or audio stays on speaker unexpectedly, one of these switches is likely turned off.

To review or change them, go to Open the settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility features ➔ Tap on Motion control ➔ Tap on Raise to ear ➔ Activate or deactivate the desired option. Each function has its own toggle, so you can enable answering calls without touching the smart speaker or Bluetooth switch.

Motion control depends on the proximity sensor and accelerometer. A dirty sensor, a thick case covering it, or a loose screen protector can block the gesture even when the setting is switched on.

If the gesture still doesn't respond after enabling the right option, a sensor issue is more likely than a settings problem. Cleaning the sensor area or removing the case usually fixes it faster than toggling the switches again.
