Enable Read in Background for Select to Speak auf Huawei
Select to Speak normally stops reading text aloud as soon as you leave the current app. The Read in background option changes that behavior and lets the voice output continue while you switch to another screen or app.
This setting sits inside the accessibility tools of EMUI, alongside Select to Speak itself. Since it is marked as an experimental function, some apps may cut the audio early, repeat sentences, or fail to resume reading correctly.
Menu path to enable or disable Read in Background
Open the settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility features ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap on Select to Speak ➔ Tap on More settings ➔ Activate or deactivate Read in the background
Turn the toggle on to keep reading active after switching apps, or off to stop the voice output immediately when you leave the current screen. If the reading stops unexpectedly even with the option enabled, the issue usually comes from the app in the background restricting audio playback, not from Select to Speak itself.
Disable the option again if you notice reading continuing over content you did not intend to hear, such as notifications or a different app in the foreground.
