Huawei: Delete Facial Data from Face Recognition

If Face Recognition keeps unlocking your Huawei phone with an old look or you simply want to switch face unlock off, deleting the stored facial data solves it in one step. This also removes any alternate appearance you registered alongside your main face profile. The setting is separate from your PIN or fingerprint, so those stay untouched.

Delete Facial Data auf Huawei

Face Recognition on Huawei phones stores one main facial profile and, if you registered it, an alternate appearance for glasses, hats or a different hairstyle. Deleting the facial data removes both entries at once and switches face unlock off completely. Your screen lock (PIN, pattern or fingerprint) is not affected, since it is managed separately.

Open SettingsTap on Biometrics & passwordTap on Face RecognitionTap on Delete facial data. Before confirming, the system also lets you Enable or disable raise to wake, which controls whether lifting the phone alone wakes the screen without unlocking it. Finish with Confirm with Delete to erase the stored data permanently.

Deleting is the right move when you no longer want face unlock active or the scan keeps failing after a visible change in appearance. If face unlock only feels slow or inaccurate, re-registering your face through the same menu is usually faster than deleting first. Once the data is removed, any app relying on face unlock for quick sign-in falls back to your PIN or fingerprint.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Tap on Delete facial data clears both the main face profile and any alternate appearance registered under it. You need to set up Face Recognition again from scratch afterward.
