Huawei: Delete a Saved Fingerprint

If a fingerprint no longer unlocks your Huawei phone reliably, or someone else registered a print for temporary access, you can remove individual entries from Fingerprint management. Once the last saved print is gone, fingerprint unlock switches off on its own until you register a new one.

Delete a Fingerprint auf Huawei

Fingerprint unlock on Huawei phones relies on stored templates kept under Biometrics & password. Each registered finger has its own entry, so you can remove one print without touching the others.

Delete a print when it stops matching reliably, when a shared device no longer needs a guest's fingerprint, or before handing the phone to someone else. Removing every saved print turns off fingerprint unlock automatically, since there is no template left to compare against.

Delete a fingerprint via Settings

Open Settings ➔ tap Biometrics & password ➔ tap Fingerprint ID ➔ tap Fingerprint management ➔ choose the fingerprint you want to remove ➔ tap Delete ➔ confirm with Delete.

Expect a PIN, password or pattern prompt before Fingerprint management opens, since Huawei treats biometric data as sensitive. If you plan to register the same finger again later, delete the old entry first to avoid two templates listed under similar names.

If fingerprint unlock still fails after deleting and re-adding a print, a dirty sensor or a screen protector covering the reader is a more common cause than a software fault.

Frequently asked questions

Fingerprint unlock switches off automatically once no template remains under Fingerprint management. You need to add at least one new fingerprint before the option reappears on the lock screen.
