Set Memory Card as Preferred Storage auf Huawei
Huawei phones running EMUI on Android store new photos and videos on internal memory by default, even when a memory card is inserted. This happens because the camera app treats internal storage as the primary save location until you change that setting manually.
The option to change this sits inside the camera app itself, not in the general system storage settings. Open Open the Camera app ➔ Open the Settings ➔ Enable or disable Priority save on memory card to switch the default save location to your card.
Once enabled, new single shots and videos go straight to the memory card. Serial or burst photos are an exception: EMUI keeps writing them to internal memory first because of the faster write speed needed during rapid shooting, then may not move them afterward.
If your card is slow, damaged, or formatted incorrectly, the camera can silently fall back to internal storage even with the setting enabled. In that case, check the card health or try a different card before assuming the setting failed.
This setting only affects the camera app. Other apps like messaging or downloads follow their own storage rules and need separate configuration if you want them to use the memory card too.
