Enable or Disable Notification Dots per App auf Huawei
Notification dots are a separate visual layer on top of your app notifications. Even if you clear a message or mute an app in Focus mode, the small dot or number badge on the icon can keep showing, because it is controlled by its own toggle in the system settings, not by the notification content.
On EMUI this toggle sits under the general notification settings and can be switched per app or for the whole device at once. Some apps additionally let you choose between a plain dot and an exact unread count, which is useful if you only want a quiet visual cue instead of a distracting number.
Menu path
Open the settings ➔ Tap on Notifications ➔ Tap on More notification settings ➔ Activate or deactivate notification dots for one or more apps
Turning off the dot for an app does not stop it from sending notifications or sounds, it only removes the visual badge on the icon. If you want to stop notifications entirely, mute or disable the app directly in its own notification entry instead.
Side effect: once dots are off for an app, you lose the quick glance indicator for unread items and have to open the app to check for new activity.
