Huawei: Stop Alarms Using the Fingerprint Sensor

When the alarm rings in the morning, fumbling for the screen to swipe or tap Stop costs precious seconds of sleep. Many Huawei phones let you silence the alarm by simply holding down the fingerprint sensor instead, but this option is not always switched on by default. If pressing the sensor does nothing and the alarm keeps ringing, the setting has likely been turned off or was never enabled in the first place.

Stop Alarms With the Fingerprint Sensor auf Huawei

Huawei phones with a fingerprint sensor can silence a ringing alarm without unlocking the screen. Instead of swiping or tapping a Stop button, you hold your registered finger on the sensor and the alarm cuts off immediately. This works because EMUI links the fingerprint reader to the alarm app through a dedicated toggle, separate from the regular unlock function.

If holding the sensor does not stop the alarm, that toggle is switched off, or you may be pressing a finger that is not enrolled for that sensor. The setting sits inside the biometrics section rather than the alarm clock app itself, which is why it is easy to miss.

To enable or check it, open Open the SettingsTap on Biometrics & passwordTap on Fingerprint IDEnable or disable Stop alarms. Once active, any enrolled fingerprint on that sensor can silence an alarm while the phone is locked or unlocked.

This function only affects the alarm clock. Calls, timers, and other notifications still require the usual swipe or tap gestures to dismiss.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Once Stop alarms is enabled under Fingerprint ID, the alarm reacts to your fingerprint whether the screen is locked or already unlocked.
