Take a Photo with the Camera App auf Huawei
The Huawei Camera app groups several functions on one screen: mode selector, zoom slider, focus area and the shutter release itself. New users often tap the preview image expecting it to trigger the photo, when that tap only sets focus and exposure.
The actual capture only happens through the round shutter button at the bottom of the screen. This button is a fixed UI element in EMUI and does not move between camera modes, but its position can be easy to overlook on a first look at the app.
Correct sequence
Follow this path: Open the Camera app ➔ Switch to Photo mode ➔ Tap the shutter release to take a photo. Make sure Photo mode is selected, not Video or Portrait, since each mode uses the same button for a different action.
If the shutter button does not react, check whether storage is full or whether the app is stuck loading a previous shot. Restarting the Camera app usually clears that state.
For photos that need both hands steady, some Huawei models let you use the volume buttons as a secondary shutter release, which reduces camera shake compared to tapping the screen directly.
