Huawei: Adjust the Touch & Hold Delay

If a long-press on an app icon or menu item reacts too slowly or triggers by accident, the touch & hold delay on your Huawei phone is set to the wrong level. This timing controls how long you need to keep pressing before actions like moving a shortcut or opening a context menu start. Short, Medium and Long each feel noticeably different in daily use.

Set Touch & Hold Delay auf Huawei

Touch & hold delay determines how long you must keep your finger on the screen before a long-press action triggers. On a Huawei phone this affects things like rearranging app icons on the home screen, opening context menus in apps, or triggering drag-and-drop for widgets and shortcuts.

If the delay is set too short, taps can accidentally register as long-presses, moving icons or opening menus you did not intend to open. If it is set too long, long-press actions feel unresponsive and you may release your finger before the action triggers.

EMUI offers three fixed levels for this timing: Short, Medium and Long. There is no numeric slider, so you choose whichever level matches your own tapping speed and reaction time.

Test the new setting right away by pressing and holding an app shortcut on your home screen. If icons still jump around unintentionally, move to a longer delay. If long-presses feel sluggish, switch to Short.

This setting is independent from tap sensitivity or screen timeout, and changing it does not affect double-tap or swipe gestures elsewhere in the system.

Frequently asked questions

Switch from Short to Medium or Long in the Touch & hold delay menu. A longer delay reduces accidental long-presses when you just meant to tap.
